i'm not taking it anymore...

you know, i've spent my entire working life in the computer industry and i've heard 18 years of "normal folks" complaining about shoddy, bug-ridden programs and overpriced upgrades and slipped schedules. and i generally agreed with them and felt shame upon "my people".

and now that i've had the pleasure of owning my own home, several cars, and generally being a grown up for as long as i was a kid, i have this to say: the rest of you suck just as hard as we do! ever had your car repaired or your house painted? ever needed an emergency plumber? ever had carpet or blinds installed? and don't even get me started on getting the cable, the phone people, or the police to show up.

if the rest of you were shining beacons of professionalism and value pricing i'd own the geek bashing. but you're not. so i won't. the next time a non-techie relative emails me a "what a car would be like if microsoft built it" rant, i'm going to reply with "what the doctors office would be like if you could get a completely new body by simply rebooting?" or "what computers would be like if the user died whenever they crash."
